Grant Description

YouthBuild Mexico (YouthBuild) In many urban areas of Mexico, young people frequently experience violence, drop out of school, or turn to drugs or alcohol.

Yet when older people invest in them, these same young people are one of the groups in society most likely to create more opportunity for others. The IAF supports programs that foster youth leadership and development.

Our grantee YouthBuild Mexico (YBM ) unleashes the positive energy and intelligence of excluded urban youth to develop their leadership potential.

Graduates of YouthBuild Mexico?s accelerated high school and service program in the Mexican state of Guanajuato and Mexico City have formed an alumni network to ?pay it back and pay it forward.?

YouthBuild Mexico is incubating this nascent youth-led network, Movimiento Jvenes con Rumbo (Movement of Youth with Purpose), by providing leadership training, guidance to establish alliances with the private and public sectors, and seed capital to promote youth-led community service projects.

Movimiento Jvenes con Rumbo is helping youth change the direction of their lives, their families, and their communities.
