Grant Description

Residents in the La Vega, Duarte and San Jos de Ocoa provinces have limited access to clean water and reliable electricity.

Guakia Ambiente works with rural communities to construct, maintain and operate community-run micro hydroelectric systems that generate energy using the natural flow of water and supports opportunities for Dominicans in education, healthcare and income generation. At the IAF, we support community-led solutions to expand economic opportunity in the Dominican Republic.

Guakia Ambiente?s activities bolster efforts to counteract environmental degradation and protect the natural resources that communities depend on.
