Grant Description

Haitian migrants and Haitian Dominicans are among the most vulnerable populations in the Dominican Republic. To address this challenge Accin Callejera ?

Fundacin Educativa (Accin Callejera) provides supplemental academic classes and skills training for children and adolescents from poor neighborhoods in Santiago Dominican Republic who are most at risk of dropping out of school or who may not be attending school through community-based salas de tarea (academic support classes) including Haitian-born or Haitian Dominican street children and adolescents.

At the IAF we support community-led solutions to enhance peace and security in the Dominican Republic. Accin Callejera's activities assist communities' efforts to propel their own development and advocate for their rights.

Amendment FY20 :This amendment provides Accin Callejera $44,543 to address issues related to the COVID-19 pandemic, including distributing food and sanitation kits to hundreds of families and street children, training teachers to conduct virtual learning, and supporting students with tutorial services and educational materials in the Santiago province.

As part of this amendment, Accin Callejera is mobilizing an additional $60,970 in counterpart resources to the grant agreement.

Amendment FY21 :This amendment provides Accin Callejera an additional 18 months and $187,404 to support remote learning, provide vocational education to vulnerable youth, train mentors, and raise the public?s awareness about child protection laws.

As part of this amendment, Accin Callejera is mobilizing an additional $537,722 in counterpart resources to the grant agreement.

Amendment FY23 :This amendment provides Accin Callejera an additional $85,000 to continue to support at-risk youth and to mobilize other sources of funding, such as donations from the diaspora community in the U.S. and the private sector, to support education and youth developmen
