Grant Description
On April 18, 2016, the Government of Moldova and the Chinese Government signed an economic and technical cooperation agreement (ETCA), which committed RMB 60 million of grant funding to be allocated by the parties at a later date. Negotiations over the grant began on March 20, 2016.
According to the Moldovan Government’s Secretary-General, Tudor Copaci, the grant proceeds were to be used to support projects in a diverse array of fields.
On June 20, 2016, Moldova’s Minister of Economy, Octavian Calmic, and Chinese Ambassador, Zhong Yinghong, announced that the grant proceeds would be used to modernize the information systems of the Moldovan Ministry of Internal Affairs, construct three solar parks, and the support customs inspection activities (see Record ID#66302).
