According to the Pakistani National Assembly records, in July 2015, the Chinese Government signed an agreement with the Government of Pakistan to provide a special cash grant to support the rehabilitation program for thousands of internally displaced persons (IDPs) who were affected by the military operation in Pakistan's northwestern restive tribal region.
The agreement, involving a grant of $10 million, was signed by Chinese Ambassador to Pakistan Sun Weidong and Secretary of Pakistan's Economic Affairs Division Muhammad Saleem Sethi in Islamabad.
The grant funds were used to support efforts to rehabilitate people of Federally Administered Tribal Areas (FATA) and promote social development.
The special assistance that was earmarked for the rehabilitation of IDPs was recorded by the Government of Pakistan as 'fulfilled'. $5 million was received in September 2015 and the remaining $5 million in April 2016.
