Grant Description

In 2010, China signed a 10 million Chinese Yuan grant to drill 58 boreholes in northern and western Rwanda.

It is unclear which Chinese organization provided the grant, but state-owned China Jiangxi Corp for International Economic and Technical Cooperation drilled the holes on behalf of the Rwanda Ministry of Natural Resources. 28 holes were drilled in Musanze, 17 in Nyabihu, and 13 in Rubavu, serving an estimated 7,700 families.

The exact start date is unknown, but this project was completed on September 7, 2015.
