Grant Description

Jamaica Environment Trust (JET), $208,355 over two years JET's training and legal assistance should enable five organizations representing residents of Bull Bay, Clarendon, St.

Ann and Cockpit Country to monitor and manage the impact of mining and quarrying on their respective communities through increased access to information about the sector and advocacy for improved public participation and more effective regulation of the industry.

The project, undertaken in partnership with The Access Initiative (TAI) of the World Resources Institute, should benefit 350 residents of these communities directly and another 16,300 indirectly.
