Grant Description

Asociacin de Consejeros para una Agricultura Sostenible, Ecolgica y Humana (COSECHA) In response to severe drought conditions in southern Honduras, COSECHA will help farmers implement practices to address water scarcity and increase food security, contributing to healthier families and decreased migration.

COSECHA will work in 15 communities, including three that are new, in the municipalities of Alubarn, Cuarn and Reitoca in the southern region of the department of Francisco Morazn to encourage the use of farming methods compatible with the responsible use of the environment and to improve practices of water management.

Forty residents will be trained as volunteer extension agents through a locally based and legally established new organization capable of providing training and technical assistance in their communities and beyond. Four innovative water retention systems will be built by local communities during the grant period.
