Grant Description

Farming families in the community of San Juan Comalapa, Guatemala, are struggling: soil degradation and adverse weather are further squeezing their chances of profitably living off agriculture.

At the IAF, we are committed to community-led solutions that improve food security and expand economic opportunity through sustainable smallholder agriculture.

Our grantee partner, Asociacin de Productores Comalapenses (ASPROC), helps smallholder farmers meet these challenges through a combination of training, technical assistance, farmer-to-farmer exchanges, and access to inputs and technologies to strengthen their production.

With IAF support, ASPROC is consolidating gains in sustainable agriculture, increasing income, improving quality of life, and reducing the drivers of irregular migration. This grant is part of the IAF's efforts to address the root causes of irregular migration in Central America.
