Grant Description

Comunidad y Biodiversidad, A.C. (COBI) will work with two additional cooperatives on controlling the invasion of lionfish off the Yucutan Peninsula by harvesting quantities sufficient to meet the growing consumer demand. Fishers will receive training in the use of diving equipment and in management, accounting and marketing.

Some 150 fisher families will benefit directly from the expansion of COBI's program; more than 600 other residents of Quintana Roo will benefit indirectly.
