Grant Description

On March 24, 2004, the Chinese Government and the Government of Myanmar signed an Economic and Technical Cooperation Agreement (ETCA), which committed RMB 50 million of grant funding for multiple projects (recorded in Record ID#85373).

The projects supported by this grant commitment were the Rice Milling Machine Installation Project (recorded in Record ID#64998) and the National Theater Renovation Project (recorded in this project), which cost RMB 12.4 million and provided for the renovation of Yangon National Cultural Theatre. An official handover ceremony took place on December 27. 2022.

The National Theater in Yangon was originally constructed in the 1980s with financial support from the Chinese Government. It was subsequently renovated in 2016 with a grant from the Chinese Government (captured in Project ID#64498).
