Grant Description

Urku Estudios Amaznicos (Urku) will work to engage communities in the San Martn region in the conservation of their forests through an integrated program of resource management and recovery of biodiversity .

In collaboration with the Federacin Kichwa Huallaga Dorado (FEKIHD), it will develop ecotourism; producer networks to market coffee, medicinal plants and crafts; a system to monitor the environment; and environmental education.

The project is expected to benefit 5,600 Peruvians directly, help protect the local ecosystem and generate revenue toward supporting the conservation efforts of the participating communities.
