Grant Description

Cooperagrepa will use a community-based extension service to develop the network of farmers applying "agroecological" methods that protect biodiversity and maximize productoin of an area extending over 19,730 square miles in northern Mato Grosso.

Work also includes the development of a system for certifying production as organic so that farmers benefit from the premium paid by ethical consumers. The project will benefit 350 Brazilians directly and another 1,200 indirectly.
