Grant Description

On October 20, 2014, the Chinese Government signed a preliminary agreement with Moldova’s Video Traffic Monitoring and Control Center (part of the Ministry of the Interior’s Information Technology Service) for a road traffic surveillance program.

Under the agreement, China would provide a $10 million grant to install video cameras at more than 50 intersections in Chisinau and at several sites along national roads. The project was expected to begin in 2015.

This grant builds on an earlier RMB 30 million traffic monitoring system funded by the Chinese Government in 2012, which was completed on October 24, 2016 (see record ID#66237).
