Grant Description
On December 20, 2011, the Government of the People’s Republic of China and the Government of the Republic of Moldova signed an Economic and Technical Cooperation Agreement (ETCA) in Chișinău, committing $9.5 million USD (approximately EUR 7.3 million) in grant funding.
The agreement specified that the funds would be used to support unspecified future development projects, to be identified and approved by both parties at a later date.
This ETCA established a framework for bilateral technical and economic cooperation, allowing for the funding of downstream projects through Chinese grants administered by the Government of Moldova.
One such project implemented under this framework is Phase III of the Traditional Chinese Medicine Technical Cooperation Project (see Record ID#108271), signed in 2022 and implemented in partnership with the Nicolae Testemitanu State University of Medicine and Pharmacy in Chișinău.
