Youlima Cohorts 4 & 5 Grantees

The Recipient under this Agreement, Action Sociale et d'Organisation Paysanne (ASOP), is a legally recognized non-governmental organization in the Democratic Republic of the Congo (DRC) that has demonstrated expertise in grassroots development and serves as USADFs local technical assistance Partner in the DRC.

Youlima, formed in 2015, is a program that promotes entrepreneurship to dismantle youth unemployment.

Youlima is dedicated to giving youth the tools and opportunities needed to create successful business models through dissemination of information, trainings, and seed capital to start their businesses.

Through this Program, ASOP, working with the Youlima team, will act as the point of contact with the selected Entrepreneurs and Micro, Small and Medium Sized Enterprises (MSMEs) of Cohorts 4 and 5 of the Youlima Youth Incubator program in South Kivu, DRC..ASOP will facilitate (a) the validation of 40 entrepreneurs and their owned, managed, and duly registered MSMEs in DRC, (b) validation of the selected entrepreneurs banking details and documentation, (c) confirmation of receipt of the investment toolkits by the entrepreneurs, and (d) collection of the outcome reports, financial reports, and project stories.

This Cooperative Agreement grant is part of a broader collaboration with USADFs strategic partner the Citi Foundation, which is providing the funding for this grant.

ASOP will coordinate with the 40 entrepreneurs in the Democratic Republic of the Congo to confirm the existence of their enterprises and facilitate funds transfer for investment toolkits in the form of non-repayable capital of US$5,000 (Five Thousand United States Dollars) or US$10,000 (Ten Thousand United States Dollars).
