Grant Description

On 23 October 2004, the minister of foreign affairs of China Li Zhaoxing and the Minister of Economic Development of Azerbaijan Farhad Aliyev signed an agreement of technical and economic co-operation in Baku today.

The Chinese side stated that they will release a grant in the amount of 10 mn Yuan ($1.2 mn) to support the construction of an Enterprise Centre planned by the Azerbaijani Ministry of Economic Development. The construction site will be chosen after the grant agreement comes into force. The Chinese money will pay for building the first building of the Centre.

The other grant, which equalled 5 mn Yuan ($600,000 thousand), is intended for procurement of motor vehicles for the Ministry of Economic development of Azerbaijan (Record ID#41344).

According to China Ministry of Commerce, the aid has not yet been implemented, and the project status remains uncertain.
