Grant Description

On June 17, 2008, the Yemeni General Investment Authority and the Chinese Council for the Promotion of International Trade jointly convened a symposium to advance trade and investment relationship between the two countries.

During this meeting, China announced that it would provide a US$12 million grant to support development projects in Yemen, which would be included in a cooperation agreement that would be signed during the June 24th-25th Chinese Vice President visit to Yemen.

On June 25, 2008, the Chinese and Yemen Vice Presidents reportedly signed cooperative agreements on economic and technical cooperation, public health and education.

It seems likely that this grant was included in an ETCA, so the status has been coded as Commitment and the project has been flagged as an Umbrella project.
