Since 2006, China has maintained a peacekeeping force, tasked with missions such as mine-sweeping, project construction, medical rescue, and humanitarian assistance, in southern Lebanon as a part of the UNIFIL (UN Interim Forces In Lebanon).
The project was temporarily suspended on June 30th, 2020, as the UN Secretary-General paused peacekeeping deployments due to COVID-19.
However, nine medical peacekeepers of the eighteenth batch and fifteen medical peacekeepers of the nineteenth batch were notified on August 4, 2020, that they would be sent to respond to the explosion in Beirut. As of 2022, Chinese peacekeepers continue to be sent to Lebanon. Record ID#41114, this entry, captures the full project.
