China Eximbank pledges RMB 200 million concessional loan On July 30, 2004, during a state visit to China by Jordan's King Abdullah II, China's Ministry of Commerce and Jordan's Ministry of Planning and International Cooperation signed an RMB 200 million concessional loan framework agreement.
According to Jordan’s then Minister of Planning and International Cooperation, Basim Awad Allah, his government intended to borrow from China Eximbank under the terms of this framework agreement in order to finance the Ma'an Industrial City Project (captured in Record ID#40987 and ID#40986), the Balqa Hospital Project (captured in Record ID#40983), and/or an unspecified set of water projects.
Then, on September 25, 2007, the Chinese Ambassador to Jordan, Gong Xiaosheng, and the Jordanian Minister of Planning and International Cooperation, Suhair Al Ali, signed an extension of the concessional loan framework agreement through an exchange of letters.
This extension allowed the Government of Jordan to borrow under the terms specified in the framework agreement until July 30, 2009. Ultimately, one project was approved under this framework agreement.
On November 24, 2008, China Eximbank and the Government of Jordan signed an RMB 200,000,000 government concessional loan (GCL) agreement for the Jordanian Servicemen Apartment Project (see Record ID#41073).
