Grant Description

Chinese Government provides a RMB 50 million interest-free loan — via a September 2015 ETCA — for unspecified purposes On September 10, 2015, the Chinese Government and the Lebanese Council for Development and Reconstruction (CDR) signed an Economic and Technical Cooperation Agreement (ETCA), in which the Chinese Government committed an RMB 50 million interest-free loan to Lebanon for unspecified purposes.

💰 Loan Amountcarried a maturity period of 20 years and a grace period of 10 years

The loan repayment period was October 1, 2025 to September 30, 2035. The lender agreed to allow the borrower to repay the loan via convertible currency or domestically-produced exports.

The ETCA stipulated that the interest-free loan would be made able for draw-down over a five-year period from October 1, 2015 to September 30, 2020 for projects mutually agreed upon by the two governments and that it would be disbursed through a bank account established between China Development Bank and the Banque du Liban (Lebanon’s central bank).

The Lebanese Government approved this loan agreement on October 27, 2016 via Law No. 85.
