Grant Description
Sector: Onion/Vegetables Beneficiaries: 1491 (1378 women) Description: The project will install solar pumping systems to improve members' access to water to increase the area of crops under irrigated production from 13.5 ha to 18 ha; obtain training in best production and post-harvest handling practices for onions to increase yields; and construct a warehouse to stock onions to defer sales to obtain higher prices.
The project will also build the cooperative management's business skills and overall capacity, and will result in the production of a sustainability plan for the organization.
