On September 30, 2005, China Civil Engineering Construction Corporation started construction for the Sir Vivian Richards Cricket Stadium, which is located in St. John's, the Capital of Antigua Island.
The Government of China granted $55 million XCD towards the project and loaned $25 million RMB, which is captured in Record ID#69102. The total cost of the stadium is reported to be about $60 million USD.
The project mainly consists of south and north stands, with a total building area of 21,936 square meters and a total seats of 9,832. The groundbreaking ceremony occurred on September 8, 2005, and construction was completed on October 14, 2006. The handover ceremony occurred on February 10, 2007.
