Grant Description

In August 2009, during a visit to Guyana Chongqing Mayor Wang Hongju announced that Chongqing would donate agricultural equipment to Guyana.

Then, on November 17, 2009, the Chongqing Municipal Government donated 137 pieces of agricultural equipment worth RMB 300,000 ($7 million GYD) to Guyana's Ministry of Agriculture. The donated equipment included 100 generators, nine small land tittlers, and 27 gasoline-powered water pumps. The donation was expected to help Guyanese farmers amidst El Niño.
