Grant Description

In April 2006, Chinese Prime Minister Wen Jiabao pledged, on behalf of China, to Fiji and other island countries in the Pacific to cancel select Chinese loans that had matured at the end of 2005 and also extend the payment of contracted debts that had matured at the end of 2005.

The value of the debts China pledged to cancel are unknown, and whether or not the debts have been cancelled has not been confirmed.
