According to a media report on May 14, 2010, the China Road and Bridge Corporation (CRBC), which is already involved in the project of expansion of the Karakoram Highway (KKH) in Pakistan, provided personnel to clear the highway following a mudslide in the Hunza Valley.
The CRBC worked jointly with a team of specialists from the Ministry of Water Resources of China, Chinese Academy of Chengdu Institute of Mountain Hazards and Environment.
The company has sent 1,577 Chinese personnel, 1257 Pakistani personnel, and 767 machines from January 27 to April 6 to assist the Pakistani Government in clearing the earth deposit. The construction work on KKH has restarted.
