Grant Description

China has been sending medical teams to Zambia since 1978. Henan Province is responsible for sending the teams.

On November 14, 2002, the Chinese Government and the Government of Zambia signed a protocol agreement dispatching the 12th Chinese medical team to Zambia.

The team's 28 members were distributed across the University of Zambia Teaching Hospital (also known as University Teaching Hospital), Ndola General Hospital, Livingstone Central Hospital, Kitwe Central Hospital, Thomson Hospital, and Kabwe General Hospital. The team completed its term of service between 2003 and 2005.

According to the protocol agreement, the Government of Zambia was responsible for the team's return tickets to China, housing, and immigration fees.

The Government of China was responsible for plane tickets to Zambia, salaries, and general living expenses during service.

📋 Staff Comments

The Chinese medical teams that have been dispatched to Zambia since 1978 should not be confused with Chinese military medical teams, which have also been dispatched to Zambia. The Chinese military medical teams have been dispatched by the People's Liberation Army and not by Henan Province.
