In March 2013, 195 students from Cambodia were sent to China for a training program; this is part of China's bilateral and multilateral foreign aid programs.
The program may possibly be a follow-up to the signing of the 'Memorandum of Understanding for Strengthened Cooperation between the Government of the People’s Republic of China and UNDP', witnessed by UNDP Administrator Helen Clark and PRC Prime Minister Wen Jiabao; based on the UNDP article found in the resource section below)The training program will include topics such as management, industrial building systems, commercial data collected, crop inspection and quarantine, economic management, agricultural development, regional cooperation, government loans, geology and mineral resources, information and communication, meteorology and environmental protection, railway construction, services, trade, customs administration, disease prevention and control, logistics management, water resources development, FTA, police cooperation, food security , women's empowerment and the news media. The students are from various government core sectors and social groups such as students from the Prime Minister's Department, the Ministry of Defense, Ministry of Interior, Ministry of Finance, Ministry of Agriculture and Forestry, Department of Commerce, Department of Energy, Mining, Land Planning and Construction, Ministry of Environmental Protection, Ministry of Posts and Telecommunications, Ministry of Health, Public Works Department of Transportation, the Ministry of Tourism, Ministry of Women's Affairs, Development Board, Customs, the Red Cross and the media sector. In addition, the Cambodian government has also sent a young Cambodian official to pursue a Master's degree program in China.
