Chinese Government donates mobile container scanning system to Phnom Penh Port

On April 8, 2006, the governments of China and Cambodia signed the Exchange of Letters agreement, "The Government of the People's Republic of China presents a container inspection to the Royal Government of Cambodia".

On April 28, 2006, the Ministry of Commerce of the People’s Republic of China discussed the tender mode of the Cambodia Container Inspection Equipment assistance project.

The bidding method for the aid to Cambodia was studied and the Tender Committee decided to negotiate with Tsinghua Tongfang Weishi Technology Co., Ltd. (known as Nuchtech Company Ltd. in English) for the project.

On October 24, 2006, the aid agreement of the vehicle-mounted mobile container inspection equipment was signed by Li Jianmin, general manager of international business of Tsinghua Tongfang Weishi Company, and the Minister of Public Works and Transport of Cambodia, Sun Zhanto.

On January 30, 2007, a ceremony was held at Phnom Penh Port to mark the official handover of the vehicle-mounted mobile container inspection equipment to the Royal Government of Cambodia.

Cambodia hopes that such aid will help strengthen cargo security checks, help against smuggling and tax evasion, as well as modernize Cambodian custom clearance at Phnom Penh Autonomous Port. China has provided security scanning equipment to Cambodia several times.
