Grant Description

On July 18 2001, the Chinese Government and the Government of Cambodia signed an RMB 45 million grant agreement for Phase 1 of the Steel Bridge Materials Project.

These grant proceeds were drawn from an Economic and Technical Cooperation Agreement (ETCA) that the Chinese Government and the Government of Cambodia signed on November 13, 2000 (as captured in linked Record ID#32019). The purpose of the project was to supply 1,000 meters of HD200 highway steel bridges.

The ultimate goal of the project was to construct 48 steel bridges. China Xi’An International Economic and Technical Trade Corp. was the contractor responsible for implementation. The project was officially completed and handed over to the Cambodian Government on June 17, 2002. The Chinese Government also funded Phase 2 of the Steel Bridge Materials Project (captured in Record ID#32095).
