Grant Description

Since its inception in 2009 the World Health Summit (WHS) has become an important platform and convener of diverse stakeholders from all sectors to catalyze better solutions for a healthier world.

The WHS’s role is especially important in times of concurrent crises across the globe that affect global health on multiple levels.

Over the past years, some cross-cutting themes have emerged as key issues that need to be addressed in this context, among them climate change and health, antimicrobial resistances, mental health, but also diversity, equity, and inclusion.

The WHS provides a safe and open space for intersectoral discussions among key stakeholders on these issues through a range of different formats, including the annual main conference in Berlin, the WHS Regional Meeting which is held in various locations around the globe, and smaller by-invitation-only dialogue formats taking place in Berlin and other cities.

With the support from partner organizations including the Wellcome Trust, the World Health Summit aims to “bring the right people to the table”, i.e., those who are key to designing and implementing solutions to these critical issues, including people with lived experiences and especially from the global south.
