Bioimaging is one of the most innovative fields in modern biology.
New probes, detectors, modalities, and analysis and AI tools have enabled multiscale and multimodal analysis that provide a holistic view of molecular, cellular and tissue architecture and dynamics.
Since 2002, the Open Microscopy Environment (OME) has released data specifications that define critical metadata and built open source software that makes bioimaging data interoperable and sharable at scale.
Overall, our goal is to apply OME's experience in building standards to accelerate the use and availability of novel bioimaging data types and experiments.
This project focuses on multi-modality datasets, where two or more innovative technologies are combined to provide a deeper picture of biological mechanism, structure and dynamics.
We will, as we have done since 2002, deliver the data format specifications and software that enable multimodal data integration, visualisation, processing and analysis for collaboration regardless of dataset size.
We will extend our work on open next generation formats for bioimaging and release specifications and software that will enable the scientific community to record and share multi-dimensional, multimodal in open, interoperable formats.
This will enhance collaboration, catalyse development of new analytics and AI approaches, and accelerate deposition of data in public repositories.
