Early career researchers can find it overwhelming to practise bioethics in their daily work as the health sector has become increasingly complex.
Though the disease burden is most acute for the underprivileged, they are not adequately represented in science or service provision.
The issues of power and exclusion have received much-needed attention in the last decade but the structural changes are slow to come.
This struggle for a fairer world plays into and is exacerbated by the advent of frontier technologies like AI, generative AI, and robotics to name a few.
The regulatory frameworks for these advancements are still being debated and developed in various countries and institutions with the lag being more severe in LMICs.
This makes the research community vulnerable to moral confusion and injury as they do not have enough guidance on how to apply the principles of justice, autonomy, and beneficence to their decisions.
The youngest members of the hierarchy are at further risk because they may lack the experience, and power to speak up about their dilemmas particularly if their work environment is non-supportive. We would like to address this gap by creating a podcast on the difficulty of being good in our tumultuous times.
