Grant Description

On October 24, 2013 during the Tanzania Prime Minister's official visit to China, officials from the National Development Corporation (NDC) of Tanzania, Dalian International Economic and Technical Cooperation Group (CDIG), and Kunming Engineering Corporation signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) to build a Centre for Research and Training on Alternative Energy (or Renewable Energy Research and Development Center or 坦桑尼亚可再生能源研究与开发中心) in Tanzania.

The total project cost was estimated to be $136 million USD but it is unclear whether the Chinese government was responsible for covering the entire project cost. Whether this was financed by Chinese government grants or loans is unknown. There is very little reporting on this project after 2013.
