The aim of this project is to undertake a body of high quality research that can be used to directly improve the use of applied meta-research evidence in institutional decision-making processes that affect research culture within organisations, which among other things, will enhance the quality, rigour, transparency and social value of research.
We will achieve the aim by: 1. investigating how relevant decisions are made in institutions, who makes them, and how relevance and quality criteria for evidence are established and maintained; 2. investigating the extent and characteristics of meta-research that could be relevant to institutional decision-making affecting research culture, rigour and transparency; 3. using deliberative methods to seek consensus on good practice in the use of meta-research evidence in institutional decision-making affecting research culture, recognising the diversity of contexts in which such decisions are made; 4. documenting that consensus in ways that support its widespread adoption; and 5.
Generating a range of outputs and engagement activities that will help disseminate the findings of the project through channels and formats that are designed to help deliver the overarching aim of the project i.e. improving the use of evidence to improve research cultures and other downstream outcomes.
