Chinese government pledges to fund 502-million USD Adams-Karen-Ngong-Bomas road upgrading project The Chinese Government pledged to fund the Adams Arcade-Karen-Ngong-Bomas road.
This project costs 501,757,632.26 USD (15 billion Ksh) and it was approved on August 8, 2012, as part of the Nairobi Roads Rapid Decongestion Programme.
The project seeks to upgrade 30 km of a four-lane carriageway and provide service roads, walkways, cycle tracks, and footbridges. It was expected to begin on July 1, 2013, and to be completed by June 30, 2016.
However, it appears that negotiations with the Chinese Government did not ultimately result in a loan agreement or grant agreement to support this project.
The project was initially recorded as a Chinese Government-financed project in the Kenya Electronic Project Monitoring Information System (eProMIS), but it was subsequently removed from the database.
