Grant Description
On September 24, 2012, the Chinese State Council's Information Office donated computers and Chinese publications worth $300,000 USD to Tanzania's National Central Library for its newly-opened China Library.
The total donation included 20 computers, 1000 paper publications such as books and DVDs, 100,000 digital publications, and some furniture. The media materials covered Chinese history, art, science, economics, politics, and culture.
The China Library was co-established by China's State Council Information Office and Tanzania's National Central Library.
The opening ceremony for the library was a part of a series of cultural exchange events called "Experience China at Tanzania" that happened throughout September. The Chinese sponsors of the library were to maintain it for three years.
