Grant Description

The China Machine-Building Corp (CMIC) pledged to build a 100 million USD iron ore mining and integrated steel plant in the Mbarara district of Uganda. The expected completion is 18 months after construction begins.

According to CMIC's general manager, Li Fengshan, the plant is part of a 200 million USD grant from China dedicated to the establishment of a steel industry in some selected African countries.
