On November 9 and 16, 2011, the Chinese Ambassador and the Djibouti Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation signed an exchange of letters in which China pledged to donate 1,720 cartons of medicines and vitamins to drought-stricken areas in Djibouti. This donation was officially delivered on August 5, 2012 to the Djibouti Secretary-General of the Ministry of Health.
