Enhancing Higher Education through the Creation of Meaningful Experiences using Mixed Reality: "Technology affords us the opportunity to leverage its unique offerings to augment resources in educational institutions." (Jantjies et al., 2018) Mixed reality (MR) is a technology that merges virtual
and physical worlds to create immersive and interactive experiences. It has gained immense popularity in recent years due to its ability to provide unique experiences and engage users in ways that were previously impossible. The use of MR in higher education has the potential to revolutionise the way students learn and engage with course material. Current literature on this topic is under
representative of the positive nature that MR could have on higher education. This PhD proposal seeks to investigate the use of MR in higher education and explore ways to create meaningful experiences using this technology.
