This project will be conducted in collaboration with EffecTech Ltd. global leaders in gas measurement.
Renewable applications such as hydrogen fuel cells and carbon capture technologies are seeing increasingly stringent standards for acceptable impurity levels for hydrogen and carbon dioxide respectively. This in turn drives the requirements for suitable reference materials with traceable compositions for the validation of the instrumentation used to measure these impurity levels.
Areas to explore in this project include: Trace impurity measurement in raw materials and their impact on accuracy of reference standards. Development of new methods for the trace analysis of reactive materials. Stability behaviour of reactive species in raw materials and pre-dilutions. Life cycle analysis of raw materials.
Assessment of the impact on the production of reference materials. Development of fast and reliable technical methods for purity analysis.
