Grant Description

My doctorate will ask three primary questions:

1. What are the important ethical questions facing fiction writers in our era of increasing racial and cultural diversity? 2. Has the push for 'diversity' benefited writers previously excluded from mainstream publishing?

3. Is it possible to establish a right approach for writers embarking on potentially contentious projects? Related to this I will ask, 'How can ethical philosophy help meproceed in my novelisation of the strike and my writing practice more generally?
