There are three main research aims: First, to provide an empirically informed description of the types and challenges of being a 'parentcoach' (typology). Second, to provide a conceptual, axiological, and ethical analysis of the typology to identify normative features and the ethical significance of the role. This will include exploring how 'parent-coaches' best
facilitate learning, success and enjoyment for their children whilst navigating the unique emotional challenges that characterize the 'parent-coach' role. It will also explore 'what they ('parent-coach') may and may not legitimately do-to, with, and for their children' (Brighouse and Swift, 2009) when
coaching. Third, to identify ethical standards and provide practical recommendations for coach education.
