In String Theory, black holes are bound states with a vast number of internal degrees of freedom, known as microstates.
From the basic building blocks of String Theory, namely strings and higher-dimensional membranes known as D-branes, one can construct heavy pure states that are candidate black hole microstates. Holography relates these bound states to corresponding heavy states in a dual non-gravitational theory.
This project will expand and develop the precision holographic dictionary in AdS_3 x S^3, and apply it to the study of families of supergravity solutions describing heavy bound states, providing valuable information about their underlying microscopic physics.
