This PhD is a comprehensive investigation into plant food availability, uses and cuisine at selected UNESCO pile dwellings sites from the 4th and 3rd millennium BC in Slovenia. This project will combine archaeobotanical, lipid and dental calculus analyses to study the composition and mode of preparation of preserved remains of cooked
foods to characterise and interpret plant use by the inhabitants of these sites. Their potential and unique preservation offer astonishing opportunities for in-depth archaeobotanical research as very little is known about culinary practices during early agricultural periods in Slovenia and South-Central Europe.
