Grant ID 2928738
Grant Description

The project is between University of Southampton and University of Cambridge: In Cambridge, Michael de Volder on fabrication of battery cells and Axel Zeitler, THz spectroscopist. In Southampton V.

Apostolopoulos and Silvia Motti will guide the student to be able to extract the refractive index of porous battery cells and the conductivity of the electrode.

The Lithium ion battery cells will be fabricated at Cambridge, THz measurements will happen in Cambridge and Southampton.

The measurements are done with THz-TDS and the target is to develop Physics inspired machine learning algorithms in Southampton that can be accurate, robust and fast enough to improve quality of battery cells.
