Grant Description

In previous work, control of the nuclear spin ensemble surrounding a quantum dot qubit has been used to minimise the spin-spin interactions which lead to short decoherence times in quantum dot qubits.

We now aim to build on this work by using the ensemble as a longer lifetime quantum register which will store the state of the central spin.

In the long term this will allow the qubit to act as a node in a larger quantum network, and also gives the opportunity to explore the many-body physics of the nuclear spins.
