DUNE is an international mega experiment that is being developed to measure CP violation in the neutrinos.
These still somewhat mysterious particles could hold the key to explaining the matter - antimatter symmetry in the Universe. Even though the big bang created matter and antimatter, we are living in a matter dominated Universe.
In addition, DUNE has a unique sensitivity to neutrinos from a supernova in our Galaxy, which would give a wealth of information on neutrino particles as well as the dying moments of stars.
The amount of data that will be produced by DUNE is vast and we need to be able to effectively identify rare events such as supernova neutrino interactions. The Sussex group focuses on the development of the software to do this
