The student will learn how to reduce data from the James Webb Space Telescope.
In case of part (1) above, the student will also learn for how to correct for the effect of gravitational lensing (Negrello et al. 2010; Dye et al. 2022).
The student will learn how to model the star-formation histories, masses, ages, dynamical masses, and densities of the environments of high-redshift galaxies.
In the second part of the project, the student will combine submillimetre data taken with the SCUBA camera and with the Atacama Large Millimetre Array with the JWST data to find DSFGs.
By combining these results with theoretical models, we will hopefully answer some fundamental questions about the origin of galaxies.
