The PhD will deepen our understanding of the effectiveness of water, sanitation and hygiene (WASH) engineering interventions on reduction of transmission of the disease schistosomiasis.
The research approach will be a combination of computer modelling and collection of data in the lab and in the field to inform the model.
The research falls within the Engineering Theme of EPSRC, specifically within Water Engineering, since it will explore how to optimise the implementation of water engineering solutions for tackling this neglected tropical disease in low-income settings.
